Alien.

The Story:

Some time ago, but not so very long, there were creatures with tentacles that made their way to the planet earth. Yet somehow they were invisible to us. So these visitors from afar decided to try to communicate their existence to us through drawing

They first decided to draw their bodies.

“This will be a good place to start,” they thought.

They then began growing their drawing, slowly adding versions of their tentacles, then thickening them to suggest the true dimension of their appendages, yet despite all their efforts, none who saw their drawings seemed to understand what they were trying to show.

“We are doomed to remain invisible,” one of the visitors stated, tentacles drooping in defeat, after their drawings had passed unseen.

“One last try!” said the youngest of them, “Someone will understand!” 

But most of them were tired and ready to return home, so they packed up and left the planet they had found, with none the wiser. But the young one wasn’t ready to give up yet, and left behind instructions, hoping that someone would find them, and be able to complete their final drawing after all.

Many years later, the aliens flew by the place they had once stayed, and in a quiet street they saw something that resembled their earlier experiments. The youngest one (who was not so young any more) lifted one tentacle in what could have maybe been considered a thumbs up, if you were very, very imaginative.
